Method

After years of practice in PHP script installation and customisation, we have developed a simple and effective method based on seven steps.

  1. Making sure the server hosting your website meets the script’s requirements.
  2. Obtaining FTP access to your website and uploading the script.
  3. Creating the MySQL database and user needed by the script.
  4. Setting correct files and directories permissions.
  5. Installing the script according to the official documentation.
  6. Testing the script and securing it.
  7. Delivering you the script and the necessary data.

Some scripts require, for example, a minimum PHP version. A script requiring, let’s say, PHP version 5, may not work on a server that has PHP version  4 installed. Also, scripts may need specific libraries and modules. Audio and video platforms usually require FFMpeg library, as an example. Many scripts give you the possibility to rewrite URLs for seo purposes, but such function will only work on a server that has mod_rewrite enabled. So, if you can, please verify that the server where your website is hosted meets the script requirements before purchasing one of our packages. Anyway, we will refund half of your money in case the server does not satisfy the software needs.

In order to upload the script’s files to your website we need FTP access. We’ll ask you to give us an FTP username, host and password. If you don’t know how to setup FTP accounts, we can do it for you by entering your Cpanel or Plesk installation. Of course, we’ll need Cpanel or Plesk username and password. Don’t worry, we won’t change or delete anything, we won’t keep your password or share it. When your script will be installed, you’ll be able to change your login information since we won’t need to access your FTP/Cpanel/Plesk accounts anymore.

About uploading the script: if it’s a free script, we’ll download the latest available version and upload it to your website; if it’s a commercial script, you’ll have to email it to us together with its licence info.

Php scripts normally need a MySQL database in order to work. So we will create the required database using Cpanel or Plesk default functions. The following step is creating a combination of user/password to add to the database. Once the installation of the script is completed, we’ll provide you with all that information (DB name, DB user, DB password). Naturally we’ll need your Cpanel or Plesk login credentials to perform this operation.

Some files and directories need their permissions to be changed, otherwise the script won’t be able to put contents in them. This operation is called CHMOD.

We will follow all the steps pointed in the official script’s documentation. If necessary we will create an admin account and install optional packages (themes/plugins/mods) according to your instructions.

At the end of the installation process we will make some testing of the script to check that everything works as supposed to do. We’ll also take any precautions that may be necessary to assure script security, such as chmodding files and folders that do not need to be modified anymore and deleting installation files.

After successful installation we will contact you and deliver all the necessary information that you will need in order to run and administrate the new software. When you’re 100% sure that everything is working properly you can change your Cpanel/Plesk login data. We also suggest you to change your FTP account password. Don’t modify your database data unless you perfectly know what you’re doing. Improper database configuration may cause script malfunctioning and even data loss!
